Cold read - The Fox and  The Crow due Thursday September 27th.

Book reports were discussed in class last week and will be due October 16th. These can be completed over any book read from the beginning of the school year as long as it has been approved by me (most students have done so already). Each student will choose two ways to present their book to the class. Students will have plenty of time to work on these during silent reading but if you have any questions please let me know. Thanks!

Math: Unit 1 test tomorrow. We have reviewed in class for the last 3 days. The book is also a great source for review. Unit 1 is chapters 1-4 and has chapter review pages on 16-17, 32-33, 58-59, and 82-83. These are not mandatory to complete, just a source for extra practice.

Reading: Read 20 Minutes. Cold Read: "Odysseus and Polyphemus" due Friday September 21st.

Spelling: Tests are this week. Spelling contracts should be turned in on the day students test.

Blue group will take their test Tuesday, September 18th

Math: Unit 1 Test will be Tuesday. We have spent the past 2 days reviewing and will review again on Monday. Your child should have a textbook to keep at home. Unit 1 is chapters 1-4 and has chapter review pages on 16-17, 32-33, 58-59, and 82-83. These are not mandatory to complete, just a source for extra practice.

Science: Hypothesis and Variables need to be completed in notebook if students did not finish in Mrs. Folluo's class.

Reading: Cold Read "Odysseus and Polyphemus" due next Friday September 21st.

Spelling: Tests/contracts will be pushed back 1 day each. The new schedule is as follows:

Blue group will take their test Tuesday, September 18th
Green group will take their test Wednesday, September 19th
Red group will take their test Thursday, September 20th

Misc: Our first field trip of the year will be on Thursday, September 27th. We will be visiting Cahokia Mounds! If your child still needs to turn in their field trip permission slip and money please send it with them as soon as possible. Thank you!

Math: Students received a copy of the text book to keep at home with them today. We will not need to use it in class. Tuesday will be our test over Unit 1 which is chapters 1-4. Study chapters 1 and 2 tonight, specifically the reviews at the end of each chapter on pages 16-17 and pages 32-33.

Reading: Cold read "Play Ball" due tomorrow.
Read 20 minutes.

Spelling: Study words and word sorts for next weeks test. Make sure you finish your spelling contract before your test. Test schedule is as follows:

Blue group will take their test Monday, September 17th.

Green group will take their test Tuesday, September 18th.

Red group will take their test Wednesday, September 19th.

Social Studies:
Students have been working on their Free Enterprise Projects. They have had time to work on them in class all week long but a few students wanted to put some final touches on them at home. Also, some students were given the option of video-taping a commercial for their product or business at home. This was an option but not a necessity. Everyone should be ready to present their business on Monday.

Math: 4.1 Expressions and Variables #s 1-10 all and mixed review all (whole sheet)

Reading: Read Dork in Disguise if you have not finished it yet. Read 40 minutes over the weekend if you have. Cold read for this week "Play Ball" due next Friday September 14th.

Science: Test will be next Thursday, September 13th.

A Note from Mr. George

A quick note from Mr. George, our Art Teacher at Sappington:

I have a small request to make,  With the focus of Literacy across the curriculum becoming a focal point I have decided to bring back the art room journal.  If you could please have each student bring a notebook to class starting next Monday with their name on the front cover I would greatly appreciate it.  Normally I would only have 3rd graders bring them because I will keep them from year to year but with the re-boot of the program I need all three grade levels to bring notebooks.  These notebooks will be kept in the artroom until the students final day of fifth grade.

Third grade could you please make sure to amend the 3rd grade supply list to reflect the need of an additional notebook for art for the 2013-2014 school year, I would greatly appreciate it.
